Our Story Of Honoring Emmett's Legacy

Our Story Of Honoring Emmett's Legacy

In 2018, our brother embarked on a mission to fulfill a dream: to support veterans in becoming successful tradesmen or business operators. This dream was born out of a deep admiration for those who have served our country and a desire to provide them with opportunities for meaningful and prosperous careers.

About Emmett William Walsh

Iron-Heart Warriors Foundation (IHWF) was created in memory of Emmett William Walsh (1963-2023), a remarkable man whose life story continues to inspire us. Emmett's journey began as an Airborne Infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Division, where he served with bravery and distinction. From the first deployment of American soldiers to the Sinai Peninsula to participating in Operation Urgent Fury (Grenada invasion), Emmett's service to his country was marked by courage and dedication.

From Soldier to Ironworker

After leaving the Army, Emmett embarked on a new chapter in his life as an apprentice ironworker with Ironworker’s Local #1 in Chicago. Over the next three decades, he played a vital role in constructing Chicago's iconic towers and contributing to the infrastructure of America. His work took him to Edmonton, Canada, where he helped build oil infrastructure, further showcasing his skills and determination.

A Warrior Poet

Emmett was more than just a soldier and ironworker; he was a warrior poet, with a voracious appetite for reading and a remarkable ability to recall what he learned. He was a beloved friend, son, uncle, and brother who left an indelible mark on everyone he met. In his honor, we established the Iron-Heart Warriors Foundation to focus on the areas that were dearest to him: supporting veterans to become skilled tradesmen and business operators.
